PEACHY KEEN

Recently I took a trip to Kohl's to use up some Kohl's cash I had earned from buying my guy a new set of luggage for our vacation to Cozumel in May. I went in on the hunt for something perfect for summer and, as a requisite, it needed to not be a dark color. Lately, I feel like all I ever wear is black! Summer is here - I need to start dressing like it!

I came across this peach toned dress on the clearance rack and it fit the bill perfectly. It's sleeveless so it's perfect to wear now AND wear later (something I always aim to do with my clothes), has great color, and is super comfortable. Oddly enough, though I bought it with summer heat in mind, the first time I wore it, it was actually a slightly chilly day so layers were a must.

Dress: ELLE from Kohls [similar for $34.99] - FREE after Kohl's cash & gift card
Lace Sweatshirt: Dots [Similar in navy for $22] - $15
White Jean Jacket: GAP via Salvation Army [LOVE this one!]
Shoes: Mossimo from Target [d'Orsey version for $20] - $6.48 clearance find
Necklace: Vintage estate sale find
Eyewear: Zenni Optical [exact] - $25.95

Let's talk hats...

Disclosure: I was provided with a MakerWear hat of my choice and Target gift card in return for my honest opinion of the product and brand. Opinions expressed are always, always my own. The compensation received will never influence my content.

Can we talk about hats for a minute? I feel like they are popping up everywhere on everyone's heads… and I'm not talking just for warmth purposes. (Although the past few weeks here in Michigan have been FRIGID. I'm sure many of you can relate.) I'm talking wide brim hats, I'm talking beanies with fancy details, I'm talking baseball hats. I'm especially talking baseball hats.

Growing up, my favorite hat was a deep, bright pink felt hat that had a black ribbon around it. Very much a girlie-girl, I was never into the baseball caps my older brother wore on a daily basis. Back then, they didn't exactly have a wide variety of baseball caps for girls who weren't interested in sports teams. Nowadays, there are so many more choices and I am loving them...

Photo Credit: Garance Dore, Chic City Fashion, J. Crew, Waiting On Martha

I've been gathering some quoteunquote intel on some of my favorite ways others have worn a baseball hat and I am coming to the conclusion that I like mine with a side of feminine touches. Soft leather, full scarves, cuffed sleeves, and amazing statement earrings? Yes, yes, and yes please!

So I was itching to get a hat of my own when Ellen of Thrifty and Chic Mom contacted me asking if she could introduce me to MakerWear - it was kismet! I'm loving the design I picked out and can't wait to show it off to you tomorrow, but let me tell you a little about the MakerWear  folks first.

MakerWear  is powered by the people - as in, the best designs get made and the designer gets a cut of the sales. They call it "curated crowd sourcing" and I love it! Anyone can become the next designer and what the people want gets made. Underground artists get a voice. New ideas come to the forefront. It's a whole new way of bringing new fashion ideas to market.  The hat's tag really sells that idea home:

Right now you can check out all their current designs on their website and can buy the designs in select Target stores. I'm delighted that my favorite mass merchandiser is carrying this brand and hope that more of their stores will start to as well - if you're wondering if you can find them in your neck of the woods, you can use their handy dandy "find your nearest store" tool to find out.

And you know what else is cool? They're currently looking for a face for their revolution… yep, you could be their cover girl! Their model search begins today, January 20th, and runs through February 9th. If you win, you will not only be their cover girl but you'll also have a $1,000 Target gift card in your hand. And, I'm just sayin'… there's a lot you could do with a $1,000 Target gift card. ;-)

Come back tomorrow to see which design I selected and how I wore it… till then, are you into rocking the baseball hat? Which MakerWear design can you see yourself wearing?

October Is: Domestic Violence Awareness Month

{ I interrupt today's usual Winning Wednesday post to bring you this special message. }

Did you know that October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month?

October Is: Domestic Violence Awareness Month

1 in 3 families are affected by domestic violence. Domestic violence is a pattern of abusive behaviors — physical, sexual, psychological, and economic coercion — used by one intimate partner against another (adult or adolescent) to gain, maintain, or regain power and control in the relationship. Batterers use of a range of tactics to frighten, terrorize, manipulate, hurt, humiliate, blame, often injure, and sometimes kill a current or former intimate partner.

If you are in danger, please call 911, your local hotline, or (in the U.S.) the National Domestic Violence Hotline: (800) 799-7233 or TTY (800) 787-3224.

Together with Miss Vinyl Ahoy and others, I vowed to wear the color purple today to spread the awareness in a small way. In fact, I wore my favorite vibrant purple shirt dress. Unfortunately, the crazy rain storm we had all day pretty much deleted any plans I had to take outfit photos. Never discouraged, I put together a purple inspired Kaboodle styleboard with some frugal ways to add some purple into your wardrobe.

The Forgotten Casual

I totally wore this outfit months ago during my last 30x30 go around. It was actually one of my favorite outfits worn during it but for some reason I apparently never got around to posting the photos - until now!

The Forgotten Casual
Tee: Old Navy, $6 (on sale)
Camo Jacket: Old Navy, $20.99 (clearance)
Jeans: Old Navy, $15 (on sale)
Earrings: Francesca's Collections, $5 (on clearance)
Sandals: Isaac Mizrahi for Target, Target, OLD
Glasses: SEE Eyewear

Yes, lots and lots of Old Navy. What can I say? I love the place. I joked the other day with a friend that 98% of my wardrobe is from the thrift store and the other 2% is from Old Navy. They have had a lot of good pieces lately!

The Forgotten Casual

This camo jacket was one of my favorite finds over the summer. It was most likely way to hot to be wearing it when I was here but I didn't even care... Now that fall is starting, I am really looking forward to getting more wear out of it and mixing it with some unexpected items.

The Forgotten Casual

I loved pairing these awesome earrings with the jacket. They added that nice colorful summer note to an otherwise pretty neutral outfit, no?

How was your weekend, guys?

Free Flowing Monday

Mondays, in my world, require something relatively easy and comfortable to wear. I can't help it - being back at work after two days off just requires simplicity. I'm always extra sleepy on Monday mornings (side effect of usually sleeping in too much over the weekend and therefore not being able to sleep Sunday night), slightly grumpy about having to go back to work (I deal with grumpy customers a lot at work) and Mondays are just really busy in my office.

Free Flowing Monday (09/12/11)
Black Tee: Forever21, Thrifted, OLD
Maxi Dress: Mossimo, Target, OLD
Sandals: Mossimo Pilar, Target, $29.99 (but FREE for me after gift card)
Necklace: Walmart, $10
Glasses: SEE Eyewear

What could be better than a maxi and a great necklace? Or, as Unusual Form likes to call them, Lankets - aka blanks for your legs! I will take a maxi skirt/dress any day of the week - especially if it is soft and flowy, as this one is. I bought it a few summers ago on clearance at Target and loved it so much that I bought it in another color (same print, but greens). This one happens to be a halter dress so I have to layer it up in order to make it work appropriate.

Free Flowing Monday (09/12/11)

Also, if you remember correctly, I am currently (trying to) embracing messy hair. I've learned that doing such is 100% easier when my bangs are short and blunt. I cannot handle messy bangs and therefore cannot handle growing my bangs out. I don't even know why I try because I prefer having short, blunt bangs! I crave change but then march right back to my usual. Do you go through this ebb and flow too?

Free Flowing Monday (09/12/11)

I have found a star player in embracing messy hair! Spin Pins from Goody are God's gift for easy hair. I've seen a lot said about them the past few months but never thought about using them myself. I have very baby soft, thin hair that tends to fall out of any sort of hair holder/curl/etc, so these types of hair products don't usually apply to me. Then, lo and behold, I received a package in a swag bag from Kaboodle and decided to give them a try. Do yourself a favor - GIVE THEM A TRY! The two pins that come in a package hold my bun together easy peasy. All I do is twist my hair (when damp - this just works better for me and my hair) into a bun and then twirl the pins into it. Done. This is my hair at the end of the day. I know there are bits falling out but keep in mind my hair is pretty still pretty short.

Free Flowing Monday (09/12/11)

Oh! And I can't forget to show you my necklace! It was a total impulse buy at Walmart a few years ago around Christmas time. It is quite a statement piece but it's not too loud thanks to its dark colors. I think it brought this outfit up a notch, don't you?

How was your Monday?

Zesty (16/30)

It's Monday. I'm sure you got that memo. Sometimes all I can muster on a Monday is a lack luster look. It happens. You don't want to get your clothes together the night before so you end up throwing something on the next morning, right? You can't get to sleep until late and then sleep in a few extra minutes, right? One of these days I am going to wake up early and take my time getting ready on a Monday... maybe next week... :)

Summer 2011 30x30: Zesty (16/30)
Pants: Express Design Studio, Thrifted, OLD
Top: Old Navy, Thrifted, $2.99
Scarf: Given to me by friend
Belt: Target, Bought on clearance, OLD
Cuff Bracelet: Won in giveaway
Sandals: Liz Claiborne FLEX, Thrifted, $2.60
Glasses: SEE Eyewear

I'm having one of those days: Hair isn't cooperating (thanks to the overdue cut I am in dire need of), clothes don't feel right, I was freezing at one part of the day and then overheated the next (little worried I am getting sick), work was long and super busy, not enough hours in the day, etc.

On the bright side: Everyone liked my outfit at work today (which is funny because I didn't - I kind of like when that happens though), I got to do some shopping at Old Navy today after work because I had an Old Navy cash coupon ($20 off $40) and then I stopped at my boyfriend's favorite chinese restaurant on my way home to pick us up some dinner. This is rare as I rarely eat chinese food but he worked 7am-7pm today so I figured he needed a little something special after a long day. He loved it. The woman who runs the restaurant is the cutest lady ever. She always calls me beautiful and today was no exception. Kind of just what I needed on a Monday evening. :)

Dress on Dress Action (6/30)

Oh, hello there, my fabulous blog friends... long time no blog, eh? I apologize for my sporadic breaks but sometimes a girl just needs a break, you know what I'm sayin'? Don't fret - I was still staying true to my 30 for 30 pieces, just didn't take the time to photograph them like usual so I'll be going back to do that this week to catch you all up on my daily outfittings. I know you have been in all kinds of suspense. :)

So, shall we start with today?

Summer 2011 30x30: 6/30
Black Dress: Merona, Thrifted, OLD
Zebra Dress: Mossimo, Thrifted, OLD
Vintage Necklace: Estate Sale, $5
Sandals: Mossimo "Pilar", Target, $29.99 (but free for me w/ gift card)
Glasses: SEE Eyewear

I loved this outfit. Sometimes I wonder if I should just own a closet full of black and white clothing because I always just feel so ME in black and white getups. They've just always been my thing.

I had the idea to layer these two dresses last week but put off wearing it until today because this week is supposed to be an absolutely scorcher. And that it was. I think one of the reports I read said at one point if had gotten to 107 degrees. Oh, mama. And it is supposed to stay this warm all week. (Remind me again why I included any type of sleeved clothing in my 30 pieces... anyone?) Yes, summer has arrived in Michigan. And the humidity? Don't get me started.

Summer 2011 30x30: 6/30

So, I don't know if I have mentioned it here before but my boyfriend took me estate sale shopping on my birthday back in June. I, of course, hit up estate sales all the time but it was nice to have him as a shopping buddy for once. My boyfriend is amazing but the one thing he fails at is being a patient shopper. This normally means I never even desire to have him go shopping anywhere with me - even the grocery store. However, that changes once a year on my birthday where he morphs into a stellar shopping buddy and is as patient as can be. I'll take it.

That being said, you should probably know the story behind this necklace. I walked by it on the very first estate sale we hit up. I'm sure you can imagine that the second I saw it, my heart started pounding and my eyes widened. This pretty lady was meant to be mine. But then disappointment came - the necklace had no price tag. Can I just tell you how much I hate when things are not marked at estate sales/garage sales/etc? I can maybe understand if it is an expensive antique and you want to wheel and deal to see what someone will offer you... but on this necklace? C'mon, put a price on it. So, anyway, I ask how much it is and the guy proceeds to tell me $10. Now, $10 may not sound like much, but remember who you're talking to - I was not happpy with this price. Defeated, I put it down and told my boyfriend I was ready to hit the road. Outside, he told me I needed to go back in and bring the guy down on price... but, here is something that may surprise you: I don't haggle. Never have. Never will. I'm just not into having that discussion with people. But my amazing boyfriend? He could care less. He walked back in and got the guy down to $5 and walked back out with my necklace. Did I mention how much I love him - particularly on this day? :)

This necklace, especially when paired with this dress on dress action, makes me wanna do a little dance...

Summer 2011 30x30: 6/30

Sorry, couldn't resist. I love the way the zebra print dress swung under the black dress. I didn't think dancing at work would be appropriate (oh, who am I kidding...) so I waited to share it with you guys.

Happy Birthday, America!

Well, I am "back to reality" after a glorious four day weekend away from work and the computer (well, ok, just a little away from the computer). I got to spend some time with my little brother (We made him a facebook... oh my goodess, my tiny little brother has a facebook! And I helped!), watched some great fireworks, hung out around my little city enjoying their 4th of July festival and ate some great bbq while visiting with the favorite members of my boyfriend's family.

And then I woke up this morning and thought, "Do I really have to go back to work!?" Yes, lady, yes you do. :)

Just because I had to head back to work doesn't mean I can't show you what I wore to celebrate the 4th of July! Remember, I love a good theme outfit: Example One and Example Two. Plus, red, white and blue always look good together.

WIW: July 4, 2011
OK, to be honest, I wore this on July 2nd - that is when we celebrated the 07/04 weekend.
Tank: Mossimo Supply Co (Long and Lean), Target, ? (clearance rack)
Gingham Top: Urban Behavior, Plato's Closet, ?
Shorts: St. John's Bay, Thrifted, ?
Wedge Sandals: Chadwicks, Thrifted, ?
Belt: No tag, Thrifted, $1.40
Glasses: SEE Eyewear

Red, white and blue... Add in some gingham and ruffles and I am set. I bought this gingham top a few years ago at one of my local Plato's Closet stores. It's a good example of buying something out of your normal size range. Actually, it is the size I would normally wear but this particular shirt doesn't fit over my bust. Determined to wear it anyway, I bought it and went on my merry way. So what if it can't button - I think it works well like this. However, I make an effort not to do this very often as it limits the ways I can style this particular top.

WIW: July 4, 2011

Another fashion piece to discuss: Shorts. Shorts and I don't often see eye to eye. I'm fairly positive I own just three pairs - this being one of them. They just never seem to fit me right, they often ride up and they seem to only come in SUPER SHORT variations. Bootie shorts were desired when I was 13 (much to my mother's chagrin), not so much the closer I get to 30. This pair, however, feels like they are tailored to fit my body. They're just the right length and I love the color. Navy is my summer black. :)

WIW: July 4, 2011

WIW: July 4, 2011

WIW: July 4, 2011

I also love any outfit that matches these wedge sandals. I found them at a thrift store probably two years ago and have worn them as much as possible every summer since. They're only now beginning to show a little bit of wear. They are seriously the most comfortable sandals I have ever slipped my piggies into. Oh my goodness. Plus, I like that they buckle at my ankle - it helps give them a slimmer appearance. Lucky for me (and maybe you!), Chadwicks still makes a similar style sandal! Oh, that snake skin pair is at the top of my must have list right now!

Did you have a good weekend?

Camo Dreams (4/30)

Let's talk about camo today, shall we? I have been obsessed with the idea of owning a camo jacket for a while now. The obsession got further out of control when I came across this photo at All The Pretty Birds! Doesn't she look amazing? The camo jacket just totally makes the whole look and the necklace she paired with it? Oh, swoon. Needless to say, I have spent great amounts of time dreaming up my own camo jacket and what I would pair it with.

Then came one fateful trip to Old Navy. And there it was. Hanging alone on a clearance rack amidst tanks and sundresses. My perfect size. A dream come true!

30x30 Summer 2011: Day 4 (06/28/11)
Pleated Skirt: Peter Popovitch, Thrifted, $1.50
Black Tee: Forever21, Thrifted, OLD
Camo Jacket: Old Navy, $20.99 (on clearance)
Braided Belt: Tagless, Thrifted, $1
Wedge Sandals: Mossimo "Pilar", Target, FREE ($29.99 but bought with gift card)
Glasses: SEE Eyewear
Bracelet: Inherited from grandma
Watch: Inherited from grandma

It got a simple styling today - all black and camo. It doesn't get much easier than that yet it still looks good, you know? Classic with a twist. Pleats with an edge. My favorite belt to cinch the jacket in...

30x30 Summer 2011: Day 4 (06/28/11)

And my favorite jewelry ight now...

30x30 Summer 2011: Day 4 (06/28/11)

Both are pieces I inherited from my grandma... The watch doesn't work at this point but I wear it because it reminds me of her. Out of all the jewelry I inherited from her, this is my favorite. It is the one of my favorite memories of her - she was always wearing a watch and it was always a small, dainty watch like this. In fact, this was the one she wore the most and the only one left in her massive jewelry box at her death. Clearly, it was her favorite, which makes it a fast favorite for me as well.

In closing,

30x30 Summer 2011: Day 4 (06/28/11)

1. A favorite jacket
2. A favorite skirt
3. Favorite jewelry

It all makes for a happy Katie.

Lemon and Lime (3/30)

How do you combat the back-to-work Monday blues? I dressed up in a color blocked, bright as can be kind of outfit! Truth be told, I think it really did help my outlook today.

30x30 Summer 2011: Day 3 (06/27/11)
Yellow Henley: Old Navy, Thrifted, $2.99
Vintage Green Skirt: Tagless, Thrifted, $7.50
Nude Flats: Mossimo Supply Co, Target, $6.48 (clearance - in store)
Necklace: Gift from friend, Bought in Italy!
Glasses: SEE Eyewear

The minute I picked out my thirty pieces, I had this outfit in mind. I mean, bright yellow and bright green? It's a match made in heaven or, at the very least, a match made for summer! Plus, I have a lot of great, bright jewelry that can go with it so well - the piece that made the final cut is this amazing beaded necklace a friend of mine brought back with her for me from Italy.

30x30 Summer 2011: Day 3 (06/27/11)Molto bello!

Now... what shall I ever wear tomorrow?

30x30 Summer 2011: Day 3 (06/27/11)

Chow! :)

Lady Grey (2/30)

Some days just seem nothing but a world of grey. Do you ever have those days?

30x30 Summer 2011: Grey Day (#2)
Gingham Button Up: Merona, Target, $4.98 (clearance)
White Tee: Charlotte Russe, OLD
Grey Capris: LEE, Won in giveaway (FREE!)
Houndtooth Scarf: Old Navy, OLD
Sandals: Liz Claiborne Flex, Thrifted, $2.80
Glasses: SEE Eyewear

You wake up late. Your shower doesn't seem long enough. Nothing fits right, looks right, feels right, anything right. Your hair doesn't lay the way you want it to. It's too hot outside. The humidity makes your hair look worse. It's so cold inside that you suddenly feel like you should be wearing a fur coat. Your nail polish chips. Your job bores you to tears. You talk to five million angry people on the phone. A co-worker annoys you. Dinner has to be made. Laundry needs to be washed. Projects need to be completed. Trash needs to be taken out. And so on and so on.

And then your boyfriend takes your fashion photos for your blog and makes you smile all goofy like and everything is put into balance again.

30x30 Summer 2011: Grey Day (#2)

Here's to the grey days that make you appreciate the non grey days that much more! :)

June 22, 2011

Black and Yellow, Black and Yellow (1/30)

Last week I got the chance to hang out with Suze of Miss Vinyl Ahoy and Nicole and Mary of The Sale Rack at the Canton Public Library to talk about shopping, deals and discounts as part of the library's Frugal Living presentation series. It also happened to be the first day I broke out my 30 for 30 pieces.

30x30 Summer 2011: Day 1 (06/16/11)
Yellow Henley: Old Navy, Thrifted, $2.99
Black Dress: Merona, Thrifted, Old
Sandals: Mossimo "Pilar", Target, $29.99 (but free, bought with gift card)
Washer Necklace: Handmade gift from my BFF
Long Chain Necklace: Estate Sale, $0.50
Black Beaded Bracelets: Gift from boyfriend
Evil Eye Bead Bracelet: Gift from friend at work
Glasses: SEE Eyewear

Now, please forgive my wrinkles. This dress likes to wrinkle anyway but after eight hours at work and two hours in the car during crazy bad traffic, I was looking a little rough. I like to think of wrinkles as little love ripples of worn clothing. I'm kidding. I'm just saying that to cover up how much I hate ironing. :)

Also, I don't know if you can tell from the photo, but I painted my nails. If you know me well, you know this is unheard of. I'm not the biggest fan of painted nails (on myself) because A) it never stays looking as nice as I would like it to for as long as I want it to and B) I'm terrible at painting my left hand. Anyway, I painted my nails a shimmery yellow-gold to match my outfit and was delighted with the result. I also painted my toes a neon orange shade that I picked up for $2.99...

Mother's Day Weekend Outfit Recap

Oh, hi, Miss Blogger. Long time no type. I actually had every intention last week to post new stuff on Thursday and Friday (which, if you've noticed recently, I seem to never get the time to do lately!) but the kabosh was put on that by Blogger. Seems it worked out though. I planned to show you what I wore over Mother's Day weekend but it's perfect to tell you about today considering I didn't go to work and I barely got dressed today. See, everything happens for a reason.

Now, to that recap, shall we?

100_6346
Jean Jacket: Rubbish, thrifted, $5.25
Skirt: Tagless, Thrifted, $1.25
Belt: Liz Claiborne, Thrifted, $1.00
White Tee: Mossimo, Target, ? (old)
Scarf: Tagless, Vintage sale @ church, $1.00
Heels: Shoes, Thrifted, ? (old)
Glasses: SEE Eyewear

You'll have to pardon this in-the-middle-of-a-car-wash photo. My boyfriend and I were running late for my mom's Mother's Day dinner (seriously nothing new for us) so I had to have him snap a quick one after he washed his new car. Priorities, right? :)

I did a little something different with my hair since I had more time than I normally do when I get ready in the morning for, say, work. It had been a humid week here in Michigan so my hair was on the fritz already. I decided to help it along and take a little hair-spiration from Image Envy. (Psst! She's showing you how to get waves using a straightener today!) I already owned a "waving iron" so I gave it a go and it turned out to look not too shabby. I've normally only used this contraption when I've had longer hair so I'm surprised I walked away with no burns on my fingers. Here's a better photo of what it looked like...

100_6343

And do I even need to tell you how much I love these shoes? One of my favorite pairs of thrifted shoes...

100_6271

Moving on... I attended a small art/craft fair in Chelsea, Michigan with my parents and little brother on the Sunday after Mother's Day. It was sunny and supposed to be a pleasant 72 degrees that day so I kept it breezy but layered...

100_6349
Skirt: New York and Company, Thrifted, ?
Grey Tee: Old Navy, Old Navy, $6 (on sale)
White Jean Jacket: GAP, Thrifted, ? (old)
Scarf: High Gloss Fashion, won in a giveaway at The Looks For Less!
Gladiator Sandals: Xhilaration, Target, ? (so, so old)

Light colors? Perfect in the sun. I'm in love with this new scarf, by the way. I won it as part of an amazing giveaway over at The Looks For Less and it is so vibrant in person. It's begging to be paired with pink the next time I wear it, right? Right. I received multiple compliments on it while walking around the craft fair. Compliments within the first few hours of wear? So nice!

Here's a better look at my sandals...

100_6354

Telling you that I am in love with these sandals does not even describe it... I want to marry these sandals. I bought them years ago at Target and have worn them summer after summer. They are the perfect gladiator sandal and are comfortable to boot. I am so sad that they have never sold them again... especially considering my furry monster of a cat, Ernie, sunk his vicious teeth into them last summer so they have some kitty bites on the front of them now. Oh well. (Note: No toes were harmed in the biting of these sandals. He enjoyed them as a snack while I was at work one day.)

Did you guys have a good weekend?

The Styleboard Outfit Post

I was feeling under the weather yesterday so I never took a photo of my outfit. I got to thinking today that that is such a shame because it was rather cute... The socks were really the main point of the outfit and I would hate for you guys not to see it in action. Instead of putting it all back on (aka - annoying), I opted to create a new styleboard on Kaboodle to show it off...

What I Wore:...

What I Wore:... by konde1kn

Are these socks amazing or what? I was really excited when I found out I won two free pairs of Ozone Socks from Second Time Around. In fact, I found out that I won on April 13th, Rachel sent my address and requested socks to Ozone on April 14th and I had the socks in my mailbox on April 18th! If that isn't great service, I don't know what is! Anyway, the second I saw these socks, I knew they had to be mine! I love their fair isle design and actually wouldn't mind getting them in the other colors too. I've only recently become a sock wearing kind of girl but these have absolutely made an impression on me. They're in my closet for keeps!

And the earrings... Please be sure to check out the An Blath Paipeir shop. These earrings are made from recycled paper as are the rest of their brooches, earrings, barrettes and headbands. SO COOL, right? I was worried that I would wreck them within the first five seconds of handling, but that couldn't be further from the truth. They are super sturdy and completely unique.

Oh, finally, one more fun story about these socks: I was walking back to work after my lunch ended when I saw my old boss. She smiled and said "Those are some wild socks there, funky girl!" to which I replied with a "Would you expect any less!?" No. No she would not. :)

Look What I Bought: Lace Skirt

I finally bit the bullet and hit up my local Target for something I have been lusting over for a while now...
Look what I bought!

Target likes to call these lace skirts Smokey and Old Lace, but I like to call it the Kyla no matter what color it is because she rocks it SO well. In fact, she is the reason I bought it! I was initially hesitant on buying one because I didn't know what to wear it with... but she has shown so many great ways to work it that I could resist no longer!

The best part? The skirt is on clearance right now at Target (well, at least at my store). The asking price on each skirt? $4.24 That's true fashion frugality right there, folks. :)

Now I need to plan on what to pair with each and when to wear it!

My casual day donation (we pay $1 at work every Friday in order to wear jeans) this month goes toward the fight against breast cancer so we get to wear these fun stickers.
