EBEW: Gingham and Green

Everybody, Everywear always reinvigorates my passion for sharing my outfit. I love seeing the different ways everyone takes an idea and runs with it.

It was decided that this month would be devoted to green. Well, naturally. Green is perfect for March - it makes me think of fresh grass coming up through the snow, cold and muck of winter. And it, of course, runs perfectly with St. Patrick's Day!

EBEW: Gingham & Green (03/13/12)
Top: Shirley of Atlanta, FREE, Inherited from my boyfriend's grandma's closet
Skirt: Waterville, FREE, Inherited from my own grandma's closet
Boots: Sofft, Thrifted @ Value World, $6.20
Belt: Forever21, $2.50
Necklace: Bought at an estate sale, $1
Glasses: SEE Eyewear
TOTAL (not including glasses) = 9.70

I love the idea of combining pieces I've been given from my boyfriend's grandma's closet and my own grandma's closet. We all know I am a thrift lover but there is also quite a sweet spot in my heart for pieces that belonged to those I love. Even if they're not always something I would have picked for myself, I always keep everything I am given and make it work in one way or another.

Ignore that shoebox. Oops!

I paired these two together because I like the idea of a loose blouse with a more fit skirt. I don't know if it transitioned into photos as well as I would have liked but that is ok. It probably looked fresher this morning without my wrinkles and bumps. Real girls have wrinkles at the end of the day though, right? :)

I've actually wanted a green gingham shirt for as long as I can remember... which dates back to seeing the most amazing Anthropologie green gingham shirt on their website a while back. I still dream of owning that shirt one day but, in the meantime, this one will do just fine.

I added in some green eyeshadow (ok, you can't see it here but I pinky swear I was wearing it) and a crazy thick gold necklace and called it a day. I'm keeping it pretty simple these days.

Now head on over to Everybody, Everywear and check out how everyone else wore their green today!

Get Smart

Guys, last week the unthinkable happened: My car died. (Don't worry, I'm getting to the part where this is related to style... I know, this is a style blog.) Thankfully, this occurred when I stopped by my parent's house to pick up some packages. Not so awesome: Finding out the following day that my transmission was kaput. Getting myself into a new car payment was the last thing I wanted to do but putting a lot of money into an older car that was bound to  have other issues come up later on sounded even worse to me.

As a result, you've seen very little to no posts from me as I didn't really think you'd like to see my "walking to work and back" fashions. I don't remember the last time I wore pants for one full week other than last week out of necessity. I would like to never walk down that road again. I'm a skirts and dresses girl through and through and last week proved it to me. Additionally, wind blown hair? Not very awesome.

All that being said, I am a firm believer that out of something bad there can come something good. The good part of all this: I finally had the chance to get the car I have dreamed of owning for over ten years. Long story short: In high school, I was lucky enough to go on two trips to Paris with my photography class. While over seas, I came across the cutest little car ever - if I remember correctly, it was brand new over there at the time... probably around 2000 or 2001. I dreamed of owning this little car but knew we had nothing like it in the states. Fast forward to 2008: Now my little car is being sold in Michigan! I even signed up for the early release email announcement/pass even though I knew I wouldn't be buying one... I had bought my little black car in 2003 and it was definitely in fine condition. I had no reason to get rid of it.

Well, my dream finally came true this past Saturday! Let's let the pictures do the talking, shall we? :)

You had to know that I was going to pick black and white, right? :)

In conclusion: I'm as happy as could be right now! I have my dream car - which also happens to be super affordable, fantastic on gas and good on oil changes (only necessary every 10,000 miles if you're interested) and I have the rain boots I dreamed of owning for ages (thanks to a gift card I won)!

What is new with you? I double dare you to tell me something great that happened to you this week! :)
