FBFF: New Year, New Blog, New You: 2011

1. What's the one thing you vow to learn or do in 2011 to improve your blog?
I actually have a lot of plans to improve my blog. I've now been blogging for a few months and am feeling the need to include more information such as a link list of my favorite fashionable girls, an actual about me page to help you get to know me, and more. Right now I feel my blog is very limited to outfit posts but would like to provide more lessons in frugality posts and expand on that. Heck, my blog is about frugal fashion but I've yet to really expand on that idea beyond showing you the cheap stuff I wear. I want to take the "you can spend a little but look great" idea and really run with it.

2. What did you learn about blogging in 2010 that you plan to put into practice next year?
I am quickly learning that writing up a few posts each week, before hand, would be helpful for time purposes. I typically write my posts each day. I wear an outfit, come home, take pictures and post about it the same day. This doesn't work out well when I have things to do or am generally pressed for time. Instead of making my blog suffer, I'd like to have some posts in waiting that I can post instead and save the outfit for maybe the next day. Also, I have learned that being involved with your readers makes a huge difference. I love when people respond to the comments I leave on other blogs so I try to do the same thing for my readers! I am thinking about getting the disqus commenting system as it is better set up to respond directly to comments left at a blog.

3. Do you have any high-level goals for your blog in the coming year? Monetization? More comments? More connections with other bloggers? A new template?
I would love to gain more readers. What makes a blog more fun? Readers! I'd also love to connect with more bloggers. I'm about as shy as shy can be so that's always something for me to work on.

4. If you could collaborate with one other blogger within your sphere of influence in 2011, who would you like to collaborate with, and what would you like to collaborate on?
There are so many blogs that I enjoy and that inspire me... I'd love to collaborate with any one of them. I recently saw a few bloggers pass around a piece of clothing and style it each in their own way. I loved reading that and would love to take part in something like it.

5. What do you plan to do to support other bloggers next year?
Comment, comment, comment. And, like I said above, I'll enventually be creating a link list of my favorite bloggers.

A Little Bit Of Beading...

Guys, you make me smile. Your comments left on my post yesterday were so sweet and totally made up for the bad day that I had. That is the best!

You know what's funny about me being happy yesterday that this week is a full casual week for me at work? I'm not even much of a jeans girl. I wear them, yes, but they're not my be all to end all. If you told me today that I was not allowed to wear jeans ever again I would be like ok, fine, here and hand them all over to you. Fun fact: When I was in grade school, I think I owned one pair of jeans. And I only wore them to "play outside so I didn't ruin my nice clothes" per my mom's request. Anyway, I think I'm just happy to wear jeans to work this week because it's out of the ordinary so it feels extra special.

Now, onto today's outfit. And cue the wind. Seriously, cue the wind:

A little bit of beading... (12/28/10)
Button Up Top: New York and Co, $7.99 (bought at outlet store)
Brown Shirt: (underneath), Massini, Meijer, old
Jeans: Elle, Kohls, old
Shoes: Fioni, Payless Shoe Source, old
Belt: No tag, Thrifted, $1
Bracelets: ??
Earrings: ??
Glasses: SEE Eyewear

I can never get rid of these jeans. They may be way too big on me, they may totally stretch out by the end of the day, they may fall down my waist and be super annoying all day... I just can't get rid of them! I love the way they flare at the bottom (though it's hard to tell that here) and I have yet to find another pair that do the same but fit better. In this world of super skinny jeans and jeggings, flares/bell bottoms are impossible to find. I used to have a pair of my mom's super old denim bell bottoms but I outgrew them. I search ebay all the time to find a replacement but they're always a size TEENY TINY and I am so not a teeny tiny.

A little bit of beading... (12/28/10)

This shirt sold me when I saw those beads. I don't wear many collared button up tops because they never fit me quite right... but then I saw this had beads and I couldn't resist. I added a belt and I think that made it work on me a lot better than without it...

A little bit of beading... (12/28/10)

These shoes are my "haven't worn in 29857365 years" item that I am giving another whirl. And this is probably the last time you will see them. I remembered why I never wear them: They hurt my toes. I think my feet grew since I bought them (a long time ago) because I feel like a half size larger would better accomodate my poor squished tootsies.

Oh! Can't forget the jewelry... I'm always proud of myself when I remember to set out jewelry the night before with my outfit. See, here's the deal - I start work earlier than my boyfriend so if I don't get my jewelry out of my jewelry box the night before, there will be no finding it (as least not quietly) in a dark bedroom the next morning. :)

Mama Said There'd Be Days Like This

I went to bed last night totally not wanting to go to work today. I woke up this morning totally not wanting to go to work today. I came home from work today totally wishing I had not worked today. It was one of those days.

Just one of those days... (12/27/10)
Plaid Top: Esprit, (Bought at outlet store), $9
Cream Top: (underneath) H&M, ions ago
Belt: No tag, Thrifted, $1
Jeans: St. John's Bay, Thrifted ions ago
Boots: Arizona, JCPenny, SO OLD!
Bracelet: Old cheapie
Glasses: SEE Eyewear

On a high point, I get to dress casual all week (which consists of just Monday-Wednesday) at work. Unfortunately, that was nearly the only high point of my day. If you didn't have to listen to my complaining on twitter, then consider yourself lucky. I think I have ranted enough for one day on there so let's think a bit more positive, eh?

Thinking Positive about my day: My kitty, Ernie, was waiting for me in front of my door when I came home for lunch. My lunch was quite tasty. I helped a sweet old man at work and he called me Sugar. It was still bright outside when I came home from work so I was able to take outfit pictures in great light! I finally used my new pillows (which I bought on Black Friday) last night and it was glorious sleeping on them! And, finally, I got to wear this new top today that I bought over the weekend while I was at an outlet mall. It is so, so, so soft and I really needed that kind of comfort today.

Just one of those days... (12/27/10)

I wear most of my bracelets (ok, probably all of them) on my left hand because I am left handed. You would think I would wear them on my right hand for this reason but no. How do you wear your bracelets? On the hand you write with or the other?

Just one of those days... (12/27/10)

I especially like this top because I keep changing my mind on the colors that run through it. Sometimes that dark color looks brown and sometimes it looks black. Multi-functional - I can dig it.

These boots drive my boyfriend crazy. And not crazy good. He calls them my cowgirl boots, which is funny/annoying only because the town I am from is very "country" and the town he comes from is very not country. I have never been the mud bogging (linked for your convenience, ha ha), belt buckle wearing, demolition derby type of girl but he likes to kid that you can take the girl out of the country but you can't take the country out of the girl. (Not that there is anything wrong with those things! They're just not me.)

Just one of those days... (12/27/10)

So... what do you do to unwind after a bad day? My first order of business is to listen to Lady Sovereign's "Love Me Or Hate Me". (Warning: Bad language in the song.) No lie. It helps me not doubt myself when I know no doubt in myself is due. Random, I know. :)

Merry Christmas, Baby!

I hope you are enjoying today and spending lots of time with friends and family. I spent last night celebrating with my boyfriend's family. We always spend Christmas Eve at his grandma's house. It's not a dress up affair but I'm always overdressed because I leave early to attend church.

Here is what I wore this Christmas Eve...

Merry Christmas Eve 2010
Dress: Untagged vintage, Thrifted
Tights: Merona
Shoes: Believe by Carlos Santana, Famous Footwear, $50
Necklace: Was a gift
Scarf (Belt): Untagged, Thrifted, $1
Glasses: SEE Eyewear

I know, are you a bit shocked to see my shoes cost $50? Here's why I splurged: I bought them to wear in my best friend's wedding over a year ago. I looked everywhere for a thrifty pretty shoe and came up empty handed. The minute I saw these, I was smitten. They looked perfect with my bridesmaid dress.

... But I haven't worn them since. Figures.

So this is when I stop that nonsense. I am making a pact with myself to wear that part of my closet we all have - the stuff we can't get rid of but which we never wear. What a waste, right? Right. So the shoes came out and I'm pretty happy they did. I think they looked pretty good with this dress and upped the fancy factor, which is fun this time of year.

Today? Today I am think I am going to keep it comfortable. I wish I could spend the day in my Christmas pajamas but I am spending the later part of the day upnorth with my mom's family. That calls for something a bit more presentable than pajamas, I suppose. :)

Merry Christmas, guys. Hope Santa brought you exactly what you wanted and needed this year and that you're surrounded by your favorite people.

Merry Christmas Eve!

My boyfriend and I hit up Michigan's Christmas wonderland, Bronner's, yesterday for some Christmas delight and a little bit of last minute shopping. If I lived closer, I would have to get a second job at this place... Christmas year round? Yes, please.

Here's a few of my favorite Christmas finds to tide you over this Christmas Eve.

102_4953
Asparagus? Check!

102_4947
Marshmallow garland? Of course!

102_4951
Chocolate chip cookie? Come to mama.

102_4943
Sparklized Santa? You betcha!

102_4950
Pass the fromage!

102_4949
Want: A black tree

102_4952
Finally, my personal favorite - Wellies!

Hope you're enjoying your Christmas goodies, friends, and family today and tomorrow. Merry Christmas, guys. <3

30 for 30: Day 30! (12/20/10)

Oh my goodness, is this really the final day of the remix? I can't believe it! On one hand, it seems like these past thirty day have come and gone so quick! On the other hand, it has seemed very slow at some points and I am absolutely itching to get back into my closet!

I probably should have picked something a little more exciting to wear on this final day, but I kind of just felt like wearing all black. So I did.

30 for 30: Day 30! (12/20/10)
Dress: Karen Kane, Thrifted
Sweater: Moda International, Thrifted, $4.99
Tights: SO OLD, seriously... like, years and years old.
Necklace: Was a gift
Shoes: Joan and David Too, Thrifted, $5.20
Glasses: SEE Eyewear

I think everyone and their sister complimented me on these tights today. Literally. It's funny that these type of tights are so on point right now because I have actually had this pair for SO many years. I remember buying them to wear out on an anniversary date night with my boyfriend and that was before we lived together..... so, yeah, they are almost as old as dirt. :)

30 for 30: Day 30! (12/20/10)

These shoes have taken SUCH a beating over the past thirty days. This photo really shows that. I'll have to be sure to give them some TLC coming up here pretty quick because they're one of my favorite pairs of shoes so I need them to last!

30 for 30: Day 30! (12/20/10)

Today whipped by! It seems like I literally just put my clothes on... but, no, that was hours ago. I am thankful but exhausted. It was a very busy day at work and I have a ton of things to still get done for Christmas. That being said - I'm about to go crawl into some pajamas and get to crafting on the things I still need to complete!

..... but what am I going to wear tomorrow!?

December 19, 2010

End of the weekend link love...

Proof you can find fashion almost anywhere

This picture is proof you can find fashion almost anywhere. It was actually taken a few weeks ago on a weekend when my little brother (he's 13) and I spent some quality time together. He wanted to hit up Gander Mountain so I obliged. He tried on hunting gear and... so did I. The only difference is he is interested in it for hunting purposes and I am interested in this hat because it was cute. Tomato, Tomäto.

Anyway... here is a little bit of link love to end this weekend. I've been collecting some link love for a while now so don't be suprised if some of the links are a little old. :)

- A little while ago Suze was holding a little competition on her facebook page where her readers could put together a final 30x30 look for her using Polyvore. I submitted a few different looks... and one ended up winning! Check her out in her final 30x30 look right here. How cute does she look in this pink and animal print get up? I love it! (But I'm biased.)

- I love the look of this scarf from Conversation Pieces. The lace, the cotton, the fringe... It's so pretty!

- Modpodging shoes? Yes, please. The minute my best friend sent me this link it was at the very top of my to-do-DIY-list. I love this idea because I have a ton of shoes that could totally use a funky upgrade like this.

- Looking to add some glam to these next few holiday weeks but don't have any extra money to buy anything? I feel ya. Check out this DIY glitter nail dip polish how to from A Pair and A Spare and This Is What I Do. I basically now want glitter nails every day of my life thanks to this post. And I'm not even a nailpolish kind of girl!

- Proof that I need to start sewing again... Check out the amazing ball gown that Casey created for herself to wear to her husband's navy ball. So elegant, so pretty, so glamorous. Oh my dear!

- I keep coming back to this post at Ham and Must Have to keep my socks with shoes inspiration running strong. I've said it before but I'll say it again - I'm not a socks girl. This post helps me feel inspired and, well, that thing called winter helps too.

- One of my favorite 30x30 remix looks was this one from day2daywear. Zebra, red, and brown? Never would I have thought to put such things together but it SO works! I've actually saved this for a little outfit recreation inspiration, but that's a post for another day. :)

- And, finally, another amazing link my best friend sent me (she's amazing like that): DIY glitter boots at Freshly Picked. Amazing. I'm still trying to hunt down the perfect thrifted pair of boots to glitterize but rest assured a glitter pair of boots will adorn my feet soon enough!

Inspired By: ROMYGOLD

So, I never mentioned it here on the blog, but I won the Biker Slash bag from ROMYGOLD in a giveaway at Tres Chic Now. I about keeled over when I found out. I mean, I'm frugal - we all know that - so I honestly don't own a bag this nice. Well, now I do and I was so excited when I got it in the mail that I immediately had to share it with you all... and base my outfit around it...

Inspired by Romygold (12/18/10)
Top: No tag, Thrifted
Black Sweater: Worthington, JCPenny
Jeans: Banana Republic, Thrifted
Black Knee Highs: ??
Shoes: Transit, Thrifted, $3.49
Glasses: SEE Eyewear
Purse: Romygold, FREE, won in giveaway

This is noteworthy for a few reasons. 1.) I never dress this good on a weekend. Hence the reason I rarely blog on the weekend. I'm honest - I just don't bother on the weekends unless I'm really going somewhere. Also, I broke one of my own rules and wore socks (well, knee high nylons) with open toe shoes. I've seen it around the blogosphere a lot as of late and liked what it looked like on everyone else. I typically wouldn't pair the two together because I live in Michigan and, well, it is snowy and freezing here. The look isn't very smart to wear in winter in Michigan but I threw that out the window today. I'm hitting the shops for a few last minute Christmas gifts and decided I would rock it out.

Shoes (12/18/10)

I love, love, love that this bag combines black and brown on the handles. If you remember, I'm trying to work more black and brown (together) into my outfits. This works perfectly into that! Also - the handles are wood. They are so sturdy and gorgeous.... did I think I would ever say that about a purse handle? Well, no, but here I am saying it!

My Romygold!

Yes, my outfit was completely inspired by the bag today. I know none of these things are 30x30 pieces but I don't normally blog on the weekend so I slightly bent the rules. :)

Inspired by my new Romygold bag (12/18/10)

In conclusion: All I have to say is THANK YOU ROMYGOLD and Tres Chic Now! And I will leave you with this...

LOVE my new Romygold bag! (12/18/10)

30 for 30: Day 29 (12/17/10)

So, I can't believe today is day 29. It seems like it was literally day 15 just yesterday! I'm a bit sad to be bidding adieu to the remix soon but also rather happy. I've been dreaming up some new outfit ideas lately with other items in my closet. That's for later, though... Here's today!

30 for 30: Day 29 (12/17/10)
White Shirt: Mossimo Supply Co, Target
Dark Jeans: Xhilaration, Target
Scarf: Bijoux Terner, Thrifted, $3.99
Animal Print Belt: The Limited, Thrifted, $1
Boots: Franco Fortini, Ebay
Glasses: SEE Eyewear

I had to look through my photos to see if I have ever showed you this belt before. It doesn't appear that I have... I bought it right before the remix started and have been itching to wear it. You've probably noticed I didn't put a speck of brown into my remix pieces... I don't normally wear too much in the brown/tan department. However, animal print? Gimme, gimme, gimme.

30 for 30: Day 29 (12/17/10)

The Limited (where this belt was originally purchased - I picked it up at a thrift store) used to be the hot store back in the day. Do you remember? Well, maybe that was in my own little 8th grade mind. I remember begging my mom to take me there because everything looked so pretty. I think she bought me one sweater from there and I wore that sweater with everything. I like to imagine that whoever originally bought this belt bought it back in The Limited's hey day. It makes it more special in my mind. :)

I forgot I owned this brown scarf. Forgetting you own things? Kind of fantastic and kind of pathetic. It matches this belt spot on though, doesn't it? I decided to take a stab at the ol scarf with a belt look and really liked the way it turned out. I actually almost felt like I was cheating on the remix because it felt like I was wearing a separate shirt all day long considering the scarf had such an impact!

30 for 30: Day 29 (12/17/10)

In other news, my most exciting weekend plan is painting my nails a glittery gold. Yay for non busy weekends. I'm not normally a nail polish girl (love it on others but prefer my nails clean and simple) but I'm obsessed with gold lately so I figure my nails are a good place to display it, especially with Christmas coming up and all. :)

30 for 30: Day 28 (12/16/10)

I put today's outfit together rather casually last night. I pulled each piece off each hanger and thought, yeah, this will look good together. No big deal. Well, turns out it went together real, real well. I loved today's outfit!

30 for 30: Day 28 (12/16/10)
Gingham Top: Old Navy
Animal Print Sweater: Bogari, Thrifted
Black Pants: Express Design Studio
Black Skinny Belt: Target, $1
Black Shoes: Joan and David Too, Thrifted, $5.20
Necklace: Vera Grace
Glasses: SEE Eyewear

One of my favorite coworkers even exclaimed that never in a million years would she think to put an outfit like this together but thought it looked fantastic. I love comments like that - especially during this remix. It just reinforces the fact that you can create so many different looks with just a few pieces and it can help you create so many new outfits when you are limited on what you can put together.

30 for 30: Day 28 (12/16/10)

I bought this necklace a few summers ago from a lovely shop called Vera Grace. My mom introduced me to the shop and it's become a fast favorite. She always has the neatest things... my particular favorite thing to buy is her grab bags of old jewelry in the back of the store. I could spend ions digging through the basket of bags and checking out each piece. This necklace was actually bought separately, though... and if I remember correctly - I'm pretty positive I paid $1 for it.

30 for 30: Day 28 (12/16/10)

There is nothing quite like feeling great in an outfit. I know a lot of people may get little to no joy out of such things but this has always been a favorite thing of mine. Clothes are just my thing... same for many of you, obviously. When you put something together that you just feel so good in, it's hard not to have a little extra pep in your step!

December 15, 2010

30 for 30: Day 27 (12/15/10)

This dress has earned a nickname today. I've realized that I have used it as my "special occasion" dress during my remix. I first wore it on Thanksgiving and now I am wearing it again to work on the day we had our Christmas lunch.

30 for 30: Day 27 (12/15/10)
Dress: Merona, Target, $9.99 (clearance)
Sweater: Wet Seal, Thrifted, $3.99
Black Beaded Necklace: ??
Red Beaded Necklace: Bought in vintage jewelry grab bag, $5 (for bag)
Black Tights: Merona, Target, $7
Black Belt: Thrifted, $1
Oxfords: Joan and David Too, Thrifted, $5.20
Glasses: SEE Eyewear

The only issue I had remixing these two items (the sweater and the dress) together was the fact that the dress has some serious pleats and the sweater is long and fitted. The combination didn't mix perfectly well so it looks like a little bumpy in the tummy. I dealt with it. (Though I know I look less than thrilled here. I apparently forgot to *smile with my eyes*. Har har.)

30 for 30: Day 27 (12/15/10)

I still can't get over how well this necklace and this dress go together. A match made in heaven, no? I can't wait to match this necklace up with more items in my closet though. I've always had a thing for black and red but the addition of a warm gold just make the two sing. I have a slight obsession with gold right now, but that is fodder for a different post soon! :)

Winning Wednesday: Great Fashion Giveaways

Winning Wednesdays over at Fashion Frugality

Winning a giveaway is fantastic for two reasons: 1.) You have a new item to add to your wardrobe for free. What could be more frugal than that!? 2.) 30 for 30: Day 26 (12/14/10)

I think my accessory of choice this year is a belt. A belt can really finish off any outfit. I mean, take today's outfit, for example: It would look completely disheveled had I not cinched it in with this skinny belt.

30 for 30: Day 26 (12/14/10)
Black Dress: Karen Kane, Thrifted
Stripe Shirt: Mossimo, Thrifted
Necklaces: FREE, given to me by a coworker
Bracelet: Bought at garage sale
Glitter Belt: Target, $1
Tights: ??
Boots: Franco Fortini, Ebay
Glasses: SEE Eyewear

That leads me to my confession: I broke the no shopping/spending rule of the 30x30. I bought this belt. Did I feel bad about doing so? No. I've been wanting a teensy black belt for a while now. Add sparkles into the mix and I am so sold. What, it's only $1? GIVE IT TO ME NOW. So I did. I gave it to myself. Merry Christmas, self!

30 for 30: Day 26 (12/14/10)

This outfit was a lot more fun than the photo really shows. There was actually quite a bit going on: Stripes, sparkles, polka dots. Can't see the polka dots? Let me show you...

30 for 30: Day 26 (12/14/10)

I may or may not have worn these tights inside out today. It may or may not have been on purpose. You decide.

30 for 30: Day 26 (12/14/10)

A sweet co-worker gave me these necklaces a few months ago. Actually, she gave me two big jewelry boxes full of vintage goodies that used to belong to her grandma. They weren't her thing so she passed them on to me. Nothing warms my heart quite like giving pretty jewelry a new home. I love knowing it used to belong to someone... I like to imagine what they may have been doing when they wore it. I think that is one of my favorite things about anything vintage- the stories or possible stories that are behind it.

30 for 30: Day 25 (12/13/10)

Let's set the truth out on the table, shall we? I'm not a fan of this outfit. At all really. I went to bed late last night and therefore chose my clothes for the next day in a hurry. I woke up late this morning and therefore put my clothes on in a hurry. It happens. Not every outfit can be a winner and, honestly, had this not been a 30x30 outfit, I never would have blogged about it. I'm nice and try to spare you from such things. :)

30 for 30: Day 25 (12/13/10)
Black Pants: New York and Company
White Blouse: Alicia, Thrifted (vintage)
Olive Tunic: American Apparel via Rue La La, $7.90 (including shipping)
Gold Scarf: No tag, Plato's Closet, $5
Gold Bangle Bracelet: Thrifted, $3
Black Boots: Franco Fortini, Ebay
Glasses: SEE Eyewear

I have a case of the Mondays today. Woke up late, rushed to work as much as I could, almost fell on my face thanks to the snow and ice, everyone and their brother called in at work, and then my car door wouldn't shut because it was so cold it was frozen open. It wouldn't latch to the inside of my car when I tried to leave for lunch. Oy. So I gave up, closed it as much as I could and walked over to one of my favorite restaurants to eat a greasy turkey burger and a coke for lunch. What are you gonna do, ya know? (You're probably horrified that I left my car more or less open. Don't be. My car - and really I drive my boyfriend's car to work - is as old and rusty as they come - no one would have been interested. Ha ha!) I took a cup of steaming water out to it at the end of the day and that did the trick.

30 for 30: Day 25 (12/13/10)

I forgot how loud these bracelets are when I wear them. I remember every time I wear them to work and my arms are constantly in movement. Clang, clang, clang. Oh well. They look good, right? :)

30 for 30: Day 24 (12/10/10)

Do you feel deflated or energized by the end of the week? I am normally pretty energized because I know the weekend has finally arrived (and I am lucky enough to not work weekends) but this week I felt nothing but deflated. It has been a very long work week, to say the least. All I felt like wearing was something soft and cuddly. Here you have it.

30 for 30: Day 24 (12/10/10)
Black/White Stripe Shirt: Mossimo, Thrifted
Dark Skinny Heans: Xhilaration, Target
Black Heeled Oxfords: Joan and David Too, Thrifted, $5.20
Zebra Pashmina: Affordable Scarves, FREE (won in giveaway)
Glasses: SEE Eyewear

OK, so this doesn't look like the most soft or cuddly outfit ever but I promise you it was. These jeans are soft and stretchy. The button up is as light as air. The pashmina? It's my favorite scarf. I ordered it because I loved the design and ended up loving it when it got here for more than just that reason. It is so, so soft and drapes so well. I love it.

30 for 30: Day 24 (12/10/10)

I've accomplished a lot today: A full day's work, a trip to the thrift store (just to find a white elephant gift!), a bit of down time and then a nice dinner with my mom. We also stopped to pick my 13 year old brother up from his first formal dance of the year. My mom had to get him new dress pants for the dance because he outgrew his last pair. When they were shopping for the pants, he asked her if he could get a vest and she, of course, said yes. (He's the absolute baby of the family and a total mama's boy so, yeah, he has my mom wrapped around his finger.) He looked adorable when we picked him up - black dress pants, black vest, vibrant blue dress shirt, funky tie and spiked hair. I love it.

30 for 30: Day 24 (12/10/10)

For now I will bid you adieu... I'm busy preparing a pie (trying a new recipe) for a family Christmas party I'm going to tomorrow. Did I mention I've never made a pie before? Eek! Wish me luck!

30 for 30: Day 23 (12/09/10)

This outfit is a total reincarnate of the one I actually put together last night and planned on wearing today. Sometimes outfits work out and sometimes they don't. This one became something I really liked after I tweaked the original outfit some.
30 for 30: Day 23 (12/09/10)
Vintage Polka Dot Tie Neck Top: Solo's by Country Set, Thrifted: $0.99
Black Dress: Karen Kane, Thrifted
Tan Vest: Worthington, JCPenny, $5.97 (clearance)
Black Skinny Belt: ??
Ivory Knee Socks: Apt 9, Kohl's, $5 (sale)
Black Boots: Franco Fortini, Ebay
Glasses: SEE Eyewear

I initially planned on wearing the polka dot top with the black dress, over the knee socks and my black heeled oxfords. It was a no go. The oxfords looked terrible with the socks and the rest of the outfit was missing something. I switched to the boots, added the vest and the belt and I was good to go! And still made it to work on time! This is an amazing feat for me. :)

30 for 30: Day 23 (12/09/10)

I think I have worn the heck out of these boots! I find myself going back to them day after day because they go with everything so well. Plus, it is freezing here in Michigan now so my legs appreciate a little coverage when I wear dresses and skirts - which I refuse to give up.
