30 for 30: Day 22 (12/08/10)

I am in love with this outfit. We're getting married this weekend in Vegas - You're all invited.
30 for 30: Day 22 (12/08/10)
Hot Pink Dress: Untagged, Thrifted
Black/White Gingham Shirt: Old Navy
Boots: Franco Fortini, Ebay
Glasses: SEE Eyewear

Black and white with a pop of pink? Yes. Full skirt with a more fitted shirt? Yes. Yes, yes, yes. I love when I love an outfit this much - it makes me feel good all day long no matter what. Don't you love that?!

30 for 30: Day 22 (12/08/10)

Did I mention the dress has pockets? I'm kind of obsessed right now with dresses and skirts that have pockets. Why? Good guestion. It's not as if I specifically use the pockets for anything useful. I will admit to putting my hands in them every so often as I walk around - it makes it feel like you're that much cooler. Whatever. Don't judge me. It just does. :)

30 for 30: Day 21 (12/07/10)

I dabbled in a bit more of the black and brown business today...
30 for 30: Day 21 (12/07/10)
Black/White Houndstooth Pants: Merona, Thrifted
Black V-Neck: Forever 21, Thrifted
Camel Sweater: Wet Seal, Thrifted, $3.99
Black Boots: Franco Fortini, Ebay
Glasses: SEE Eyewear
Belt: a.n.a., Thrifted
Gold Hoop Earrings: Walmart
Gold Necklace: Part of grab bag of necklaces, $5 (total)

I wasn't 100% in love with this outfit when I put it together last night. I actually had a back up outfit in mind in case I absolutely hated this one when I put it on this morning. I have to say, though, that I ended up loving it! I think the camel colored sweater paired quite well with the houndstooth pants, yes? I also think each piece evened the other out because the sweater is quite fitted while these pants are actually too big on me... I just haven't had the heart to get rid of them until I find a new pair of houndstooth trousers. :) Can't live without my houndstooth.

30 for 30: Day 21 (12/07/10)

One of the security officers where I work commented on my belt today, noting that it looked like Santa's belt. Erm. I guess maybe it does? Whatever. Tis the season! :)

I anchored this outfit with this belt because this sweater is so fitted that it shows each and every bump from my pants. These pants have a thick fabric to them, plus they hook at the top, so it was really bumpy and unattractive looking without the belt. Luckily, I think the belt was the perfect touch so it ended up working out wonderfully.

Also worth noting - I next to never wear gold but felt my neckline needed some decoration. I didn't have any other necklaces that looked right so I gave this one a whirl and liked how it paired with the camel color of the sweater.

Gosh, this outfit just worked itself out pretty well! I love when that happens.

30 for 30: Day TWENTY (12/06/10)

What footwear to do you wear when you are home and relaxing? I prefer to keep it all natural...

30 for 30: Day TWENTY (12/06/10)
Black Shirt (not seen): Forever 21, Thrifted
Animal Print Sweater: Bogari, Thrifted
Tan Vest: Worthington, JCPenny, $5.97 (clearance)
Dark Skinny Jeans: Xhilaration, Target
Black Scarf (as belt): ??
Glasses: SEE Eyewear

Yes, that's right. I was home and barefoot all day. I had today off from work so I wanted to keep my clothes easy and comfortable. Bare feet were a requirement. Little known fact: I actually hate socks and completely closed shoes. If you take a look at my shoes, the vast majority of them are able to be worn without socks. Socks make me feel constricted but I'm giving them a whirl this year. I'm trying.

Also important to note: Totally went outside my comfort zone today. How? Well, you may have noticed that I normally (as in, pretty much always) wear longer cut shirts. Today's outfit has a shorter cut top than I normally prefer to wear - especially when paired with form fitting jeans. Look, this girl has hips. I don't mind that fact but I know what works on me and shorter/boxy cut items don't normally do it for me. I gave it a try today considering I didn't really plan on going out anywhere major. (Read: Didn't plan on going anywhere but McDonald's to get a frozen strawberry lemonade. I'm addicted to those things!) It's ok... it's ok.

30 for 30: Day TWENTY (12/06/10)

Can't believe I only have nine days left to the remix! Can't wait to put my new remixing skills to use with the rest of my closet, honestly.

30 for 30: Week 4 Recap

30 for 30: Week 4 Recap

The 30 for 30 Closet Remix is steadily helping me gain some insight on myself and my closet. I honestly think it is helping me tread new ground and open my mind up to the fact that I don't need a closet bursting at the seams in order to be happy and fashionable. Check out some other thoughts/ideas/reflections I had on this past fourth week of the remix...

FAVORITE OUTFIT
Oh, so easy! My favorite, hands down, this week is Day #17. The blazer I wore that day is one of my all time favorite thrift store finds. I could probably pair with anything and it would instantly become a new favorite outfit.

DID I MISS MY CLOSET?
Yes. There - I said it. I think I have finally hit my limit. I'm running out of inspiration... I feel like I have worn everything five zillion times though I know I haven't. I think it would help me, in the future, to plan outfits more ahead of time instead of late the night before when I am feeling tired anyway.

THINGS I NOTICED
My outfits were not exactly spectacular this week but they are giving me ideas for stellar outfits to wear once the challenge is done. Sure, that involves the rest of my closet... but that's the point, right? Shop your own closet.

Another thing I noticed is that my accessories are seriously lacking. Years ago I was very into buying tights, socks, jewelry, etc. I haven't really been into buying such things lately and it shows. I would love to add some new colorful accessories/statement pieces into my wardrobe in the next few months.

WHAT I LIKED
It may be boring to others, but I like that I chose so many black/white pieces for the remix. It's allowing me to mix prints now more than ever and I'm really enjoying that.
