The Flowers Do The Walking

The second I woke up this morning all I could think about was layers. Layers, layers, layers. So cold. Must have layers. And for good reason - it snowed today! Not a lot and nothing stuck to the ground, but still. Snow. I'm not ready yet!

WIW: 11/05/10

Of course, if you know me well or pay close attention, I wear layers every day - maybe just in not so much of an obvious way. I wear a tank top under almost every single piece of clothing you will ever see me in. Just an added piece of warmth, I guess.

I've been sick and exhausted this entire week so I wanted nothing more than to be layered up and comfortable on this casual Friday.

WIW: 11/05/10
Tank (the print peeking out): Old Navy, ions ago
White Tshirt: Thrifted Towncraft tshirt, thrifted, $1
Tan Button Down: GAP, thrifted ions ago
Jeans: Calvin Klein, thrifted ions ago
Boots: Doc Martens, gift from my parents years & years ago
Glasses: SEE Eyewear

Anytime I feel the need for ultimate comfort in clothes, I bust out one of these thrifted Towncraft white tshirts. They are literally the softest tshirt I have ever felt in my life. I still remember the day I found them (I have two) at the thrift store. My hand brushed the shoulder and I was sold. $1 for each? Yes, please.

WIW: 11/05/10

I love these boots. I always forget about them & then find them in the very back of my closet and get all excited again. They're the gift that keeps on giving, apparently. My mom bought these for me years and years and years ago for Christmas. In fact, I'm pretty sure I was in high school at the time. I'd say she knows me well, huh? These boots are always such a conversation piece - I always get a ton of compliments on them and/or I get stories from ladies who wore Doc Martens in high school/all the crazy escapades they did in them. Let's be honest, most chicks who rock Doc Martens at any point in their life are pretty fierce, so these stories are always fun and interesting. Love that.

Meet a 2010 Kaboodle Holiday Shopping Scout!

A little while ago I told you that I was busy scouring the WWW for twenty-five of my favorite gift ideas for the holiday season. There was a good reason for that - one which I can now show you!

I was a Kaboodle Shopping Scout!
You can click this picture for a better look!

I was asked to be one of Kaboodle's 2010 Holiday Shopping Scouts! I was beyond excited to be a part of this. I not only love being a part of the Kaboodle community but also love sharing gift ideas that are thoughtful yet affordable. Every one of my picks came in under $100.

Interested in checking out what I chose to add to the list? Click here to check out the Shopping Scout page as part of the Holiday Headquarters. I also urge you to check out the entire holiday extravaganza that goes on in Kaboodle Land in addition to joining the community!

What is Kaboodle, you ask? It's an online shopping must. I initially joined as a way to save all the favorite fashions I find online. Let's be honest, we ALL love to window shop online but rarely do we buy everything we find. Kaboodle is a great way to save these items all in one place so you can find them again later. But it gets better... You can also enter giveaways (I recently won a $200 Mastercard giveaway!), talk fashion with lots of likeminded folk, create your own styleboards, ask questions/thoughts via polls and even publish your own blog using their blogazine feature. And as an added bonus - everyone, literally everyone, is super friendly. It's a fun, open-minded fashion environment... what's not to love about that?

Sooo... what do you think of my gift picks? I'd love to know! Also, if you join or are already a member, please leave your user name or add me so we can connect there too!

Winning Wednesday: My Favorite Fashion Giveaways

Winning Wednesdays over at Fashion Frugality

Winning a giveaway is fantastic for two reasons: 1.) You have a new item to add to your wardrobe for free. What could be more frugal than that!? 2.) You are (most likely) introduced to a new company/store/brand/what-have-you. This is a great way to try something you either might not have bought on your own or try something you may have never heard about prior! I love that. This, my friends, is why every week I write a little post called Winning Wednesday. I hope you like this week's picks!

Rock That Vote!

I'm just going to put this out there - I am not against theme dressing. Easter time? Perfect time to dress in pastel Easter egg dye colors. Halloween around the corner? Give me orange and black. (Which you would have noticed last week if I would not have been so busy!) And it's no different for election day...

WIW: 11/02/10 - Election Day!
White tank: (underneath) Walmart
Plaid Button Up: This is actually my boyfriend's shirt! Old Navy
Red Sweater: Old Navy, Thrifted, $2.50
Jeans: Banana Republic, thrifted ions ago
Plaid Shoes: Rocketdog, thrifted ions ago
Glasses: SEE Eyewear

I've been meaning to wear this sweater for a while. It is so soft, so comfortable and so bright. Did you notice I'm dressed down and it's not a Friday? I always get election day off from work. My job does have its perks every now and again! Good thing, too, because I am feeling terrible... You'll have to ignore the fact that I am extra pale and red-nosed. The cold/flu/whatever bug has crept back to me once again... I'm currently self-medicating with tomato soup.

Ready to show your support on election day? Check out these election inspired picks that I put together...
